The Girl Who Rarely Speaks (Poem #38)

There was a girl with a regular voice
and not using it was her choice
to her mother she never said
“buy me this” and “buy me that”
instead she crossed her fingers and thinks
“I hope she does”

The girl grew up to be a fine young woman
when people ask why she seldom talks
her friends would say, “she’s just too shy”

Once in her life she fell in love
he said, “I love you, do you feel the same?”
and she simply said yes
when she truly meant
“whatever you feel, I feel it a thousand times deeper”

Fast forward to the day he left
he was filled with excuses
and she was her usual silent self
she simply let out a sob
she said goodbye and closed the door
she kept it locked
just like all the words
and all the love inside of her.

There was one night when the rain poured so hard, and i didn't want it to stop. Weird, because i was afraid and amused by the sound of the rain and thunder. The sound of it made me less alone that night. The next day i woke up to find my collection of journals soaked. I keep it near the window to make sure no one could read it. The writings can still be read but i was devastated by the damage. I wanted it preserved but i don't want it published. Still amused by the rain but afraid of the wrath it could bring to my journals, i created this blog.
