My Past (Poem #14)

I bet you never had sleepless nights
where you just open your eyes
and stare at the ceiling
just to keep wondering
how the touch
of the first guy i loved felt like

or how i cried
when i realized that the spark between us died

or how the love faded
when he decided it’s time
when I was miserable
and he was totally fine

You never wondered
you never cared
because you are too consumed
with your own past
you’re too bothered about it
to think that like you,
I have loved someone before too

it’s just that i got over him when you came
so i thought she’d be forgotten
I thought you’d do the same

There was one night when the rain poured so hard, and i didn't want it to stop. Weird, because i was afraid and amused by the sound of the rain and thunder. The sound of it made me less alone that night. The next day i woke up to find my collection of journals soaked. I keep it near the window to make sure no one could read it. The writings can still be read but i was devastated by the damage. I wanted it preserved but i don't want it published. Still amused by the rain but afraid of the wrath it could bring to my journals, i created this blog.
